This weekend, I got the chance to team up with local brand Local Laundry for their traveling sweater campaign. The campaign started in Calgary and in May and now it is going to cities across Canada. The goal of the sweater is spread awareness about local communities in each city as well as display random acts of kindness. I was nominated to be one of the influencers to showcase the local community and of course I had to showcase the streetwear/sneaker community in Edmonton for it is constantly developing thanks to young entrepreneurs. I pulled up to local streetwear shop ANNMS for their Notorious Nineties party, an homage to the golden era of rap. Ya’ll know how I feel about 90’s rap so you know it was gonna be a vibe! I took over Local Laundry’s Instagram story and showed viewers an array of sneakers, Supreme box logo tees and vintage tees. I rocked the sweater during the event to mark my territory and the next day, I wore the sweater to my day job. My random act of kindness, I bought a Tim Horton’s coffee for the person behind me at the Drive Thru. Using hashtags #WhatsYourCrew and #CommunityCrew, the sweater was able to travel across the city and help bring it to life thanks to its citizens. I am so happy that I got to be a part of this campaign and a big thank you to Local Laundry for letting me showcase Edmonton’s streetwear scene!
