On March 26th, 1987, Nike gave birth to the Air Max 1. This sneaker would go on to becoming one of the most influential sneakers of all time designed by Tinker Hatfield. Hatfield is notorious for designing the Air Jordan III, Air Jordan IV, Air Max 90, and the list goes on. What made the Air Max 1 so iconic was Hatfield’s idea to add an air cushioned sole and a visible air bubble at the bottom of the sneaker. After it’s release, Nike went on to releasing an array of sneaker models under the Air Max name: Air Max 90, Air Max 180, Air Max 95, Air Max 97, just to name a few. Today is the 30 year anniversary of Nike’s original Air Max 1 and to celebrate this landmark in sneaker history, Nike released the Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0. It shares the same details as the OG’s in terms of signature lines, shape and colorway. On the tongue, it reads 3.26 indicating the date that changed sneaker culture forever. No L’s were taken on this sneaker for I managed to snag a pair after refreshing the Nike page for 30 minutes.
