Sole Good Sneaker Convention

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend my first sneaker convention and my excitement was flying high like the Jordan Jumpman logo. I’ve always had a fascination with sneakers as a kid. From walking into Foot Locker in the eighth grade to purchase the all white Air Force 1 Mid’s, to receiving my first pair of retro Air Jordan sneakers.  Prior to the event, I spent a lengthy amount of time on Youtube and Complex doing research on sneaker conventions and learned 2 valuable pieces of information:

1.) You can buy, sell and trade your kicks  2.) Put your best foot forward = Wear your flyest kicks!

The convention was hosted by Sole Good at the Matrix Hotel in the heart of Downtown Edmonton. Each table contained classic kicks like the Cement 3’s, Taxi 12’s, Carmine 6’s, Patrick Ewing’s, Riccardo Tisci’s, Air Max’s, and the Air Yeezy’s by Kanye West. On metal hangers were garments by Supreme, Bape, Billionaire Boys Club, Hood By Air and The Hundreds. I scored a deal on a pair of Air Jordan 1 ‘Blake Griffins’ that released last December. I was originally on the hunt for a pair of OG Bred 1’s simply because they were the first pair released during Jordan’s career as a Chicago Bull. Originality does come with a hefty price tag which caused me to pass on purchasing the Bred 1’s. Wah! Overall, the Sole Good sneaker convention was everything that I expected! It’s so refreshing to be in a room full of people who share the same passion and knowledge for not only sneakers, but for street wear brands. A big shout out to Sole Good, Foosh, KO Market, Cannibal Kings, Teapsy Cafe, Golde Clothing and Five Sevens for shining a limelight on the street wear and sneaker culture in Edmonton. You are definitely contributing to the dope factor in our city.  Can’t wait to see what you guys have in store next!
